Is there any application note or schematics for pin hook up... in the user guide there is the pinout... but I want to know if it need any pull up ou pull down resistor on some pins and if it need a resistor in serie of the led for the gpio pin (sat fix). Also, what external component is used for the backup battery, diode to prevent reverse current to the batery?

Application note on the website would be usefull for that module.

Pin-3 (1PPS)         Internal pull-down resistor (100KΩ nominal)
Pin-4 (BOOTSEL)         Internal pull-down resistor (100KΩ nominal)
Pin-6 (RXA)         Internal pull-up resistor (100KΩ nominal)
Pin-7 (GPIO1)               Internal pull-down resistor (100KΩ nominal)
Pin-9 (NRESET)    Internal pull-up resistor (1KΩ nominal)

I am considering an application for this board, but need some information that I haven't found as yet.  I have the EM-218-01 user manual (em31801_ug.pdf).

What is the function of Pin 7 (GPIO1; GPS Fix status) ?  Does it indicate GPS fix, (2D / 3D) or almanac downloaded? and what voltage levels signal this / these things?

For this specific engine module, the function of PIN 7 (GPIO1) is to show the status the LED whether it has a fix or not. If it is unable to get a fix, the LED would be just steady on. On the other hand, it will blink if it has a signal: 2D or 3D.

Please refer to the image below for the voltage levels for this pin.
